Philly's Obituary

September 2012 to January 2, 2023

Oh Philly, where do we even begin?Philly came to me first in early 2013 while I was living in Washington, D.C. as a foster cat. I should have realized even then that there was no way I could only "foster" her - from the start, she knew she was mine.Philly was by my side my entire adult life. She saw me through so many transitions -- my first studio apartment, my first serious boyfriend, a business school adventure in Chicago, a summer in Cincinnati, and finally to a new life in San Francisco. In my 10 years with Philly, she always made wherever I was living feel like a home in 5 different states (WA, DC, OH, IL, CA). She charmed countless friends during that time.Philly had simple, beloved pleasures: chasing hairbands across hardwood floors, getting belly rubs while stretched out, her beloved brushing on your lap, and ANY and ALL opportunities she got to eat. While she was mostly content with not being the center of attention, Philly always kept a watchful eye on everyone in the household and made sure she was as close as possible to her humans at all times.Philly passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2023. Dr. Robert Sahaghian of San Francisco's A Gentle Rest came to our home and with great compassion, kindness, and sensitivity helped Philly get the peaceful end she deserved to the pain cancer had brought her. Both Marjorie and Blake were by her side comforting her and reminding her what an incredible gift she was to us when she transitioned. We will miss Philly's kind yet spunky personality, the constant warmth she brought to our household, and the hysterical antics she engaged in nearly every day. We will think of her and miss her every day.Though Philly's time with us has come to an end, her spirit and loving nature will continue to live on in our hearts and our home forever.
